Date Posted:24/06/2015

centremk flower showLovers of all things floral are in for a treat this weekend as a national flower society creates their first annual display in Middleton Hall.

The British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society has chosen centre:mk to showcase their perfect perennials.

The elegant individual trumpet blooms of the Hemerocallis or Day Lillies as they are often referred to, flower for just one day but as each plant has many blooms displays can last for weeks.  With over 250 varieties throughout the UK they can create tremendous diversity in both form and colour. The names alone entice with “Dragon Heart”, “Dark Angel”, “Bela Lugosi”, “Custard Candy” and “Crimson Pirate” to name but a few.

An often misunderstood group of plants the societies “summer fayre” will include not only displays of the flowers and blooms to buy but also talks by society members as well as “How to tips”.  To keep the whole family occupied there will also be children’s activities, entertainment and of course everyone’s favourite kids characters M&K.

Shaun Rhodes, Head Of Marketing, centre:mk:
“We are delighted to welcome the BHHS to Milton Keynes.  Middleton Hall is famous for its varied events programme and we are confident that this event will delight our customers and also help build an ever increasing reputation for both Hosta’s and Day Lillies.”

The show opens at 10.00am on Saturday in Middleton Hall, centre:mk and is free.
