Anyone fancy a Rugby Murray?

Date Posted:14/09/2015

The Rugby MurrayCalcutta Brasserie in Stony Stratford is getting into the Rugby World Cup spirit by creating a rugby-sized, and shaped, curry.

The Rugby Murray – a spin off of the cockney phrase Ruby Murray meaning curry – is double the portion of a standard meal and comes with its very own rugby ball shaped naan bread with the Rugby World Cup logo embedded.

The dish is the creation of award-winning head chef, Saj Khan at Calcutta Brasserie and consists of a medium spice mix of chicken, potato, vegetables and spices. He said: “The Rugby World Cup is the biggest sporting event this month and as it’s coming to Milton Keynes we wanted to do something a little bit special. The Rugby Murray is a very large portion and it will take some effort to get through it all as the naan alone is double the size.”

The Rugby Murray is also served on a rugby ball shaped plate and costs £14.95 per person and £1 will be donated to a local sports charity. Saj said: “We are looking for a local sports charity to donate any proceedings to and give back to our wonderful community.”

If you would like to nominate or you are a charity, contact Calcutta Brasserie on put ‘Rugby Murray’ in the subject box.

The Rugby Murray will be available from Friday 18 September – the official launch of The Rugby World Cup.
