Date Posted:14/04/2016

Bike Fun in Milton KeynesThe Council’s Sustainable Transport Team is holding a fun day in CMK on Saturday 21 May between 10am and 4pm at the Gallery in the Theatre District.

Entrance to the event is FREE and will include a cycle powered cinema plus a children’s art workshop. Cycling organisations and Council officers will be on hand to give information and advice about how you can switch to using more sustainable transport such as walking and cycling to travel. You can also test your own fitness level with Electric Pedals Extreme Tea Challenge.

The cycle cinema is powered by teams of cyclists, if you want to be one of these you can email or just turn up on the day and pedal!

The cinema screen will show a variety of films including:

10am – cartoons (ages 4+)
11am – ‘Velorama – British Film Institute’ – a documentary film showing archive footage of a  century of cycling
1pm – cartoons (ages 4+)
1:30pm – Jacques Tati’s ‘Jour de Fete’

The children’s workshop will be run by Culture Cart’s Tom Mitchell between 11am and 1pm.

The event is part of the CitiZEN project – an EU funded scheme to encourage people to use more sustainable forms of transport.

Sara Randle, Senior Transport Planner said, “The Council is involved with a number of low carbon initiatives and projects to encourage people to use more sustainable transport rather than petrol-powered vehicles to travel and is the first in a range of activities taking place this year.”

“This fun day is a great way to get involved and show people that sustainable transport is a fun, healthy and cheaper alternative to the car as well as being more environmentally friendly”

If you would like to attend or be involved with the cycle cinema, please book through the Gallery website at or email
