Lighting of the Beacon in Campbell Park

Beacon Lighting Milton KeynesTo celebrate The Queen’s 90th Birthday, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales will invite Her Majesty The Queen to light the Principal Beacon on 21st April at Windsor Castle. This will be followed by the lighting of a number of beacons throughout the United Kingdom and overseas.

To mark this special occasion The Beacon in Campbell Park, will be lit on Thursday 21st April 2016, from 7-8pm.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Keith McLean, will open the celebrations followed by two school choirs:  The Premier Academy School Choir and Chestnuts Sign and Sing Choir along with Festive Road who are set to perform on the evening.

The Parks Trust Events & Recreation Co-ordinator, Julie Dawes said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday in Milton Keynes. We are looking forward to the Festive Road Fire Performance and songs from both school choirs.

“It will be great to see people celebrating the Queen’s milestone in this way.”

Bruno Peek, LVO, OBE, OPR, Pageantmaster, The Queen’s 90th Birthday Beacons said, “It has been an enormous privilege to be able to organise this amazing community event to celebrate the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen. I am delighted to see so many different organisations playing their part.”

  • Opening words from the Mayor followed by Kate Abrahams Church of Christ cornerstone
  • 7.10pm - The Premier Academy School Choir
  • 7.20pm – Chestnuts Sign and Sing Choir
  • 7.30pm – Festive Road Fire Performance up to beacon and beacon lighting
  • 8pm – Finish
