LoveMK Day returns and wants to go global

Date Posted:23/02/2015

Love MK Day AustraliaThis year we are holding the 3rd annual #LoveMK Day on Thursday 30 April 2015. And this year, we want to take it global!

The aim of the day is not only to promote Milton Keynes as a leisure and business destination but also to harness the pride that many people have in their city even if they don’t live here anymore. We want to spread the love across the world and get people now residing overseas to show their love for Milton Keynes. You can download the #LoveMK poster, or just get creative with the hashtag and photograph yourselves getting ‘loved up’.

The visitor economy is worth over £200 million to the area and by encouraging
the MK community to get involved in promoting their own city, it could increase
the wider benefits even further.

Once again we will be asking the MK Twitter community to use the hashtag #LoveMK on all their tweets on 30 April to try and get it trending in the UK, as it did last year. And we want the local community to get creative – how can you show your love for MK? Maybe create a banner, get your school involved, paint your face, knit a jumper, bake a cake – anything you can use #LoveMK on!

Carys Underwood, Marketing Manager at DMK, said “Last year’s #LoveMK Day really captured people’s imagination and we had support from all over the UK, someone even cut #LoveMK into their lawn, but this year we want to push it even further. We’re hoping that once again the community will get behind us and get #LoveMK trending, not only to promote MK as a destination but to show how much pride they have in the place that they live and work in.”

To get involved and to show your support just use #LoveMK on any tweets you send on 30 April and help spread the love. You can also follow us on Twitter @DestinationMK for your chance to win prizes on the day as we run ’12 competitions in 12 hours’ where you could win by just using the hashtag.

You can also download the #LoveMK Day poster HERE and get your photo taken to show your support, tweet it to Destination MK and they’ll RT and add it to their Facebook gallery.
