MK Gallery to host Local Building List Event

10:10:10 (Ten Buildings, Ten People, Ten Minutes)

A lively and fun “Pecha Kucha” style debating event designed to stimulate thinking about the
emerging architectural history of Milton Keynes is to take place at MK Gallery on Thursday 21
May at 7pm, presented by MK Forum, the city’s Civic Society.

Milton Keynes Council is about to prepare a list of local buildings which are considered important because they help to tell the story of the creation of the New City of Milton Keynes.  But how do we choose which are the key buildings, and are there other things, such as landscape features, that should also be recognised?

To contribute to thinking on this important subject, at the 10:10:10 ten local people familiar with Milton Keynes will each spend ten minutes talking about ten buildings or other city features that they feel should be included on MK Council’s list.

The event format entails speakers being “gonged out” after precisely ten minutes, and promises much fun and debate.  The ten speakers are:  Tim Skelton (Chair of MK Forum), Henk van Aswegen (MK City Discovery Centre), Theo Chalmers (Urban Eden), Linda Inoki (Xplain) and local architects Adrian Morrow, David Grindley and Gavin Hinton-Cook, David Lock (David Lock Associates), Simon Peart (Conservation and Archaeology Manager, MK Council)  and John Stewart (former Chief Architect, Bucks County Council).

*Admission is free and everyone is welcome, but tickets must be pre-booked via the Gallery’s website at
