MK Handmade and Vintage Fayre

Date Posted:21/05/2014

MK Handmade and Vintage FayreThe weekend of 7-8 JUNE sees the keenly anticipated return of the MK Handmade & Vintage Weekend Extravaganza, one of MK’s most popular events.    Middleton Hall, in front of John Lewis in thecentre:mk, is transformed into a treasure trove of 120 colourful stalls, a paradise for lovers of the unusual and unique.  For savvy shoppers who aren’t slaves to high street trends and prices, the event offers an eclectic mix of thousands of handmade and vintage items you won’t find in the shops.

Now in its fourth year and with a reputation for quality, originality and very affordable prices attracting visitors from across the country, this quarterly event is quite a spectacle and brings together the cream of our local independent designer-makers and independent vintage sellers - an eclectic mix and an exceptional range of talents.  Forget Brighton or Camden - this is right on our doorstep, it's indoors and it's free entry!

Event organiser, Jacqui Lewis:  “This vibrant event  is now an established highlight in the MK calendar and visitors enjoy an excitingly different shopping experience in the centre of MK.  Our standards are high and our carefully selected mix of exhibitors offer everything from furniture to fashions, from jewellery to jukeboxes;  the gorgeous, the cool and the quirky – all exhibitors passionate about what they do, and every item a one-off.

For our June market, you'll find loads of old favourites, plus, as usual, spaces reserved for interesting newcomers - including, in June, new designers selling their collection of affordable handmade bridal wear and accessories,  a fashion graduate and vintage fabric enthusiast launching his handmade unisex bow-ties business, handmade and bespoke dresses for both children and adults, and one of our resident designers, Sally Hutson, will be selling her latest range of clothing re-fashioned into unique pieces of wearable textile art.  We also have a new MK designer specialising in beautifully alternative headpieces and fascinators.   Several of our vintage/antique traders have just returned together from an organised buying tour of Europe and, as always, come straight to our MK event laden with unusual European pieces for your home straight from the brocantes of France and beyond.  We should see French vintage lace, linens, kitchenalia.   Our very popular jukebox restorer will have more jukeboxes for sale.  Our resident sign-writer will be there with his unique style of quirky sign-written pieces of furniture and, as many exhibitors, will be happy to take commissions.  Add into the mix a traditional home brewer, home baking stalls, unique jewellers including jewellery refashioned from antique silverware, a vintage collector specialising in original designer dresses, a Japanese calligraphy and origami expert, luxury homemade natural cosmetic maker, original artists, and dozens more very special exhibitors - there really is something, old or new, for every one, every age and every occasion.

If you love a unique style,  the thrill of the bargain hunt, and wish to buy quality and local, get along to Middleton Hall - but remember to allow yourself a good few hours to explore everything!

The market is only there for 2 days -  Saturday 7th June (9am-7pm) and Sunday 8th June (10.30am-5pm).
