National Computing Museum team on Eggheads

Date Posted:29/09/2016

TNMOC EggheadsA team from The National Museum of Computing will be seen taking on the Eggheads on BBC 2’s popular quiz programme on Tuesday 4 October at 6pm.

The Harwell and the Dekatrons team (named after the Museum’s famous 1951 Harwell Dekatron, the world’s oldest working digital computer) is led by Dr Andrew Herbert and consists of four volunteers and a member of staff.

Dr Herbert said: “As a bunch of geeks, we felt we were clued up for the science and tech questions, but felt very vulnerable on arts and culture questions. As good scientists, however, we researched the opposition because we knew we would have to try to pit our strengths against their relatively weak areas. We felt that we like Daniel in the lion’s den and were searching frantically for a sling shot!”

The full Harwell and the Dekatrons team is Colin Eby, Andrew Herbert, Phil Mainwaring, Andy Taylor, John Wilson and Matt Yeomans (reserve)

Viewers can see how the Museum team fared on Eggheads, presented by Jeremy Vine, on BBC2 on Tuesday night 4 October 6.00-6.30pm.
