Poppy sculpture at thecentre:mk creates tributes to soldiers

Date Posted:31/07/2014

Poppy Sculpture thecentremkcentre:mk is commemorating the WW1 centenary with the installation of an interactive poppy sculpture which has been designed as a moving tribute to the one million service men and women from the UK and Commonwealth who died as a result of World War 1.

From Thursday 31 July, shoppers are invited to dedicate and insert a poppy to the sculpture near Middleton Hall.  At two metres tall the sculpture holds hundreds of poppies and it is hoped the public will personalize and dedicate poppies to loved ones who are, and have been, active in conflict in the armed forces.

James Waugh, centre director commented “We are proud to welcome the poppy installation to centre:mk ready for the WW1 centenary on Monday 4 August.  We hope shoppers will embrace the concept, remembering the fallen from WW1 while also paying tribute to those currently in service.”

The poppy sculpture is located near Middleton Hall on Midsummer Arcade until Sunday 10 August.
