Station X Sci-Fi Film Festival

Date Posted:10/09/2014

Station X Sci Fi FestivalX marks the spot for an unmissable celebration of Sci-Fi cinema at STATION X, as Bletchley Park was once known.

This autumn (19-21 September), Bletchley Park will be transformed into a five-screen cinema, devoted to exploring imaginative and inventive science-fiction films. There will be 18 feature films, giant outdoor screenings, a special children's screen along with a selection of short films, workshops and talks ranging from animation to storytelling...and these will be just some of the activities on offer over the three evenings.
The Station X SciFi Film Festival is one of the flagship events in the BFI Blockbuster project, Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder, presented together with O2.  Thanks to a collaboration between Cambridge Film Trust and Independent Cinema Milton Keynes, it will be a curated weekend of screenings and workshops for all the family, exploring science fiction war narratives, totalitarian dystopias and the fear of the power of science.
The film festival is appropriately set against the historic backdrop of Bletchley Park, known to those who worked there as Station X during the 1940s.  This is an unmissable opportunity to visit the historic site and see first-hand where the wartime Codebreakers cracked the Enigma Code, as the park’s iconic locations will be used for screenings including the Ballroom, WW2 code-breaking huts, the Enigma Cinema, as well as outdoor screenings in the park’s grounds.
